Mark & Jeremy return in Peep Show Series 5 on DVD...
Concluding recently on Channel 4, the aftermath of Mark and Sophie's failed
wedding wasn't going to be a pretty sight, and there was bound to be plenty of
laughs for us in it. That was certainly the case, but overall the series rather
limped along without anything to really hold it together. See if you agree in
this review of the series DVD.
Coldplay return, rather full of themselves, on CD...
Coldplay are a 'dinner party' kind of band, and the album that some middle-class
types will admit to having but won't actually listen to on their own. As such,
it's shot to the top of the charts, even though it clearly doesn't deserve to.

Yes, as the series draws to a close and Russell T Davies gets the chance to
throw some money round, he'll throw everything in, including the kitchen sink,
and here that means Doctor Who, Captain Jack, all his previous assistants under
David Tennant's tenure, all the Torchwood mob (well, a couple of them) and an
old enemy - the Daleks.
Does it work?

Queer as Folk Season 3 on DVD
The following two recent comps have now finished, and the answers were that
for Dirty Harry: The Ultimate Boxset, there are five films in
the boxset, and in City of Heroes/City of Villains, the title of Issue 12
is Midnight Hour. The winners shall be notified shortly.
Stuck for something to do this weekend? The list of films showing at
Manchcester Showcase Cinema can be found on this page, and won't differ
much from what's on in the rest of the country.
The new films out include: Wanted, Edge of Love, Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic and Prince Caspian.
They're a New Zealand folk-comedy duo and they've won Grammy awards, even though
it doesn't quite work for me. However, although this is their debut album
they've had TV and radio series and there appears to be no stopping them.

DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
makes of it.
That's how
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
described this band and the talents of Frida Ohrn after hearing her perform
Release Me on a SAAB advert last year, and 240 million other people
thought the same, such was it's audience.
Grand Theft Auto 4: The magic continues on Xbox 360...
This game needs no explaining as it's had plenty of exposure in the media
and everyone who's ever played an entry in the GTA series knows what's in store,
and the story this time is that you're Niko Bellic, and you're coming to America
in search of the American dream, joining your cousin Roman who's already arrived.
Now play on...
Last week, it was Radiohead, and this week
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
brings you a review of the new Paul Simon compilation, comprising of 36 tracks
and spanning a great deal of material, and there's also a version available
which contains a DVD.
This time round, it's a Doctor-lite episode as he's declared dead early on
for reasons that soon become apparent and the world's all gone to pot, just
because Donna made a decision that stopped her meeting the Doctor, and for a
chance, Russell T Davies wrote a decent episode, even if it doesn't face up
to close inspection. However, the best thing is that he nuked London! That's
one way of getting rid of those clowns in government :)

Last September, singer-songwriter - and Grammy award-winner Ani DiFranco
appeared on stage at a former church called Babeville, in her hometown of
Buffalo, New York, and this DVD captures her folk music genius over 90 minutes,
courtesy of
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts.
World-weary cop Eddie (Stellan Skarsgard) is a man with a lot on his
plate and the last thing he needs is some whacko going round town apparently
torturing people and killing them after burning some kind of inscription into
their flesh that looks like "WAZ", but what does it mean?
I thought this would suck like most ten-a-penny serial killer films, but it
turned out to be bloody marvellous! And it guest stars Melissa George,
Tom Hardy, Ashley Walters and Paul Kaye.
Yep, hot on the heels... well, a few months, after the release of their full
7-CD boxset, comes a compilation of their best tracks spanning 29 tracks on 2
discs. Is it a well-thought out compilation from the band or a quick cash-in
by their previous record company?
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
lends an ear.
Doctor Who: It's Midnight at the Sapphire Waterfall on BBC1...
This time round, it's a Donna-lite episode as she sits back while The Doctor
goes on a trip to see the Sapphire Waterfall on the planet Midnight, but things
don't go to plan at all, in this episode that guest stars Lesley Sharp
and Lindsey Coulson.
This one turned out to be a 'Marmite' episode - you either love it or hate it.
Personally, I hated it. There was zero tension and I knew it was on to a loser
the moment it said it was written by Russell T Davies.

CHARTS: Mint Royale vs. Sara Bareilles - who got the No.1...?
28 years of musical history from Jason Ringenberg on CD...
Today,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
checks out a 30-track compilation from a man from Illinois that covers almost
as many years, and is the man credited with influencing the roots-based surge
in indie-country-rock fusion movement of the mid 80s.
CHARTS: Rihanna vs Mint Royale - who got the No.1...?
Check out the

An Otis Redding double bill on CD...
Today,

brings you 2 CDs totalling 40 tracks including Respect, Change Gonna
Come, My Girl, Satisfaction and many more. What more of an invite do you
need?
As
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
confirms, when it comes to Chris Eckman, Hugo Race and Chris Brokaw,
this unique collaboration brings together three musicians who have a full
grasp of the barren dustbowls of America, and this is definitely well-worth
your attention.
Sweeney Todd: Johnny Depp is back in Fleet Street for vengeance on DVD...
For me, Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaborations are very hit and miss. Well, to
be honest they've been mostly miss, but I heard about the gore content in this
one and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't go in for musicals either, but
this film really came up tops in most departments. Helena Bonham Carter
and Alan Rickman co-star, as do Timothy Spall and Sacha Baron Cohen.
Pendulum bring their Aussie talents to the UK on CD...
From their beginnings on the other side of the world,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
confirms that this band have learned a lot from the European dance scene
as they crack the UK market with their infectious drum & bass grooves.
Doctor Who: Steven Moffat completes a triumph in the library on BBC1...
Alex Kingston, Colin Salmon and Steve Pemberton
guest star in this episode, as forthcoming head honcho Steven Moffat, who wrote
last series' excellent Blink, provides a satisfying conclusion to the
two-parter he started last week.

Get a double helping of Love for the weekend on CD...
With such classics as Alone Again Or, Andmoreagain and Red Telephone,
you can't fail to be impressed with this new 2-CD compilation, as was the case
for
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts.
Last year,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
brought you a review of this band's "MOR" album, and they're a band best known
over here for doing the theme to the Sopranos, but there's many strings to their
bow and he's equally impressed with this 18-track hits compilation...
Drive onto the Interstate 60 at your peril on DVD...
James Marsden plays a promising young law student trying to get by in life
the easy way, whilst rebelling against his parents, but things take a different
turn as he accepts the task to deliver an important package and meets a strange
man in a red bowtie with a monkey pipe who grants wishes, played by Gary Oldman...
The cast also features Amy Smart, Christopher Lloyd, Michael J Fox, and comes
from the writer of Back to the Future.
It's the time of the season for The Zombies on CD...
A fantastic 20-track compilation, this CD contains tracks not only from the
Zombies as a group, but also tracks from Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone on
their own, as well as The Alan Parsons Project, with tracks including
She's Not There, Old & Wise, Hold Your Head Up and Say You Don't Mind.
