Replacing Freddie Mercury was a hard task, but it seems the man to do it
was Free vocalist Paul Rodgers who gives his all on 27 tracks over
2 CDs in this live spectacular, courtesy of
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts.
I started off my Xbox Live experience with demo of the first in this
racing bike series, and moved on to the sequel which was quite simply
heaven in terms of what it made the Xbox do and the online play.
Now, with this third edition, there's still much to shout about, but just
why doesn't it feel like we've advanced from the second game?
Katie Melua doles out her second CD piece by piece...
Released today:
I found her previous work quite bland, but she was the music press and media
darling. Things don't seem to have changed much with this new release, but
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
takes you through the highs and lows of the album.
Will The Dukes of Hazzard give you a 'Yee-haw!'...?
They've got the look, they've got some well-known faces into the cast, but
with so many TV series being made into films they can't all work as well
as the original, so how does this one fare?
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen
takes it for a leap off a ricketty bridge.
The release dates for singles go up until late November
with albums until December 2005.

Earlier this week, Elly Roberts wasn't massively keen on the latest
album from Paul McCartney, but one person who does quite like it is
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Jason Maloney.
Take a look to see what he has to say...
It's the weekend, so time for a dance on double-CD...
The weekend has finally arrived and there's nothing better than letting
your hair down. If you're a child of the '50s and '60s then this 50-track

Richard Hawley hangs out round Coles Corner on CD...
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts

this year, but can this British singer-songwriter rival the American's
work? Read on...

DVD highlights out now and shortly...
A few highlights that are well worth splashing out your moolah on out now or shortly.
For each one that's of interest, click on the image for more info on Amazon:
Terry Pratchett's Discworld (£29.99, Momentum) is out on Monday 26th September.
Voiced by the likes of Christopher Lee, Neil Morrissey, Jane Horrocks and June Whitfield, this release
contains the animated versions of Terry Pratchett's Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters. This box set also
includes the Discworld novel 'Going Postal'.
Also, there's a competition online until the end of the month
HERE!
The Doris Day Boxset (£49.99, 4 Front Video)
is out on October 3rd.
A delicious and delectable Doris Day collection featuring some of her best-loved films from the 1950s and
60s with the cinematic cream of male leads too. Contains YOUNG AT HEART, LOVER COME BACK, THE THRILL OF
IT ALL, SEND ME NO FLOWERS, and YOUNG AT HEART (1955): The musical where she's in love with Frank Sinatra's
handsome but troubled musician.
Includes the title song and One For My Baby. LOVER COME BACK (1961): Doris and Rock play advertising
executives for opposing firms. Rock plays low-down bachelor Jerry who's using dirty tricks to win business,
Doris is trying to get justice. But will they or won't they get together in the end.
So much had been made of Bruno Ganz's performance as the leader of
the Third Reich, loved by his followers and despised by everyone else, but
to just concentrate on him is to miss out on a top-notch performance from
every single actor onscreen in this German-made, yes German, film from
Oliver Hirschbiegel which pulls no punches.
All the press are making a song and dance about this new album and the man
himself was even featured, briefly, on CD:UK on Saturday, but is his latest
album really worth all the hype?
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
doesn't seem to think so...
The release dates for singles go up until mid-September
with albums until November 2005.

It's Friday at last, but after this band trashed (in my view) the Hall & Oates

When Mr Bumble-Drop builds a walking, talking, battery-powered boy, it's the start of a series of magical
adventures for Torchy and the toys of Topsy-Turvy Land. This charming series from Space Patrol creator
Roberta Leigh and "puppet-maestro" Gerry Anderson paved the way for his pioneering Supermarionation
techniques that he later used in series such as Thunderbirds. Includes all 26 episodes from Season Two.
Pipkins Vol 2 (£19.99, Network)
is also out on September 26th.
For a generation of school children who ran home from school at lunchtime throughout most of the 1970s and
early 1980s there was one programme that stands head and shoulders above all others in the arena of
children's televison - Pipkins! Topov, Pig, Tortoise, Octavia the Ostrich and, of course, the irrepressible
Hartley Hare spend their time helping out people, usually with unforseen results!
Episode titles are as follows: Bertha and Hartley Clean Up, Hartley's Teeth, Topov and the Bananas, Catching the

When production starts on a movie about the urban legend of Chucky and his bride, Glen heads for Hollywood
to bring his bloodthirsty parents back from the dead...
Extras include: Audio commentary with writer-director Don Mancini and actress Jennifer Tilly. Family Hell-iday
Slideshow. Conceiving The Seed of Chucky. Jennifer Tilly's Diary. Cast and filmmaker's biographies.

Set in Berlin, 1945, this powerful and provocative drama retells the final days of the Second World War
as recorded in the diaries of Adolf Hitler's private secretary, Traudl Junge, while barricaded with Hitler
and his closest confidants in the Fuhrer's secret bunker. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel with an
astonishing performance by Bruno Ganz as history's most notorious figure, this unprecedented and controversial
insider's perspective is a gripping insight into the madness and desperation of Hitler in the final hours
of the war as the Russian Army closes a ring around Berlin.

Actor's Biographies. The Bunker - A Virtual Tour. Shooting In Russia: behind the scenes look with

Stella Does Tricks (£12.99, Fabulous Films & Fremantle Home Entertainment)
is out this week.
Kelly Macdonald ('Trainspotting'), gives a powerful performance as Stella, a gusty teenage prostitute who
can already turn tricks with the best of them but still enjoys a giggle about sex with her girlfriends,
a young group run by oily pimp Mr Peters.
Despite an oddly close relationship with Peters, she is desperate to escape from him, and when her best
friend is attacked by one of his cronies she decides to make her move – but not before taking a
spectacular revenge on the attacker...
Madagascar Skin (£12.99, Fabulous Films & Fremantle Home Entertainment)
is also out this week.
A bold and original British movie with powerful performances from its lead actors, John Hannah -
sensitive and tentative and Bernard Hill - exuberant and boisterous. 'Madagascar Skin' turns the odd
couple completely on it’s head.
The film’s awkward hero is a painfully shy man with a Madagascar-shaped birthmark, who flees the
nightmares of the city and the unhappy gropings of gay clubland. He ends up alone on a rocky
seaweed-strewn seashore. In the strangest of circumstances he bumps into the larger than life,
overtly heterosexual Flint, a cheeky bruiser with a definitely dodgy past. Hiding out in an abandoned
cottage, their mutual suspicion begins to melt.
Made with Chris Newby’s eye for lyrical imagery and small but meaningful detail, 'Madagascar Skin' is
a film with surprising moments of intimacy and a wonderful joyful resolution to its unlikely tale.
The Brittas Empire Complete Collection: Series 1 To 7 (£69.99, Eureka)
is out on September 19th and this set features all 7 series.
In the classic TV sitcom, Gordon Brittas (Chris Barrie) is the manager of Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre.
He means well, wants to do well and desperately wants to be a good manager. Unfortunately his best talent
is to continually create recipes for total disaster but deep down Brittas cares for his staff, but all
he ever seems to do is to make their lives more difficult.
Trying to rise above this, and to keep the Centre running smoothly, is his assistant Laura (Julia St.
John) and of course Colin, complete with boil! Behind every good man, so the saying goes, is a good
woman, and behind every maniac, is a good woman losing her sanity! Helen Brittas (Pippa Haywood) is
no different as she struggles to cope with her husband's misplaced enthusiasm.

DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Jason Maloney
continues his regular column looking at the albums of yesteryear,
continuing with Sepetember 15th 1988 when new releases came from
Talk Talk, Tanita Tikaram, Jane WiedlinThe Proclaimers.
There's nowt so queer as folk, especially, according to
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts,
those who praise the likes of Pete Doherty, yet ignore singer/songwriter
genuises like Jez Lowe. Read on and find out why.
How many of Iceland's best exports can you name? Bjork? Erm... that's it
for me, but
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
is also enamoured with this new album from Sigur Ros, a troubadour Icelandic
quartet. Read on and find out how.
I had high hopes for this title following various clips I'd seen, including
the performance of note from Bill Murray, and despite the inclusion of certain
cast members, and it delivered just about everything I'd been looking forward
to.
If you're a fan of good, engaging cinema, you can't help but be drawn
into Wes Anderson's fantastic visual world inhabited by internationally-renowned
oceanographer Steve Zissou.
It's not out in the shops for a while, but a signed version is available
on his website. Howard Jones, best known for some classic '80s hits
like New Song, Like To Get To Know You Well and Look Mama
is back with more new songs, some of which rival any of his '80s best,
courtesy of
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Jason Maloney.
They're a band I could never get into, but
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
is clearly a fan and tells us what he likes most about this 16-track
compilation that's not just a hits collection.
This was released last week while we were still taking a break, but it
failed to make a dent on this week's Top 75. Still, it has a fan in
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
who delivers his review for us now.
The release dates for singles go up until mid-September
with albums until November 2005.
