DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Paul Greenwood returns with
a return to a horror franchise, but is it a return to form after the dire
Halloween H20?
Don't bet your bottom dollar on it,,,
An excellent film, but watch out for the wallet, as
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Traveta dips into the 2-disc
collector's edition to see what goodies it contains.
Closer to Xmas we'll have a review of the 2-disc Region 2 special edition to see
how it compares.
The legendary John Woo directs and Nicolas Cage, so how come
it received such a slating in the press upon its cinema release?
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen watches.

Freeview has launched...
Almost exactly six months ago, ITV Digital closed. In its place comes
a joint venture from BBC and Sky, Freeview, another batch of 30-or-so
digital TV channels that come down your aerial, but don't cost anything once
you've bought your digibox.
Don't expect to see the likes of Sky One or E4 amongst them
since there's no subscription charges, but on the other hand it does include
the new UK History and some of the digital-only radio stations such
as the BBC's 1 Xtra, 6 Music and BBC 7 (For those with a Nokia
digibox, you can turn off the screen-filling and TV-screen killing logos by
pressing exit).
Those who still have their digibox from ITV Digital can watch these channels,
but it's still in doubt as to whether the administrators will attempt to
reclaim them now that ITV Digital has been liquidated.
No, not that the channel has been renamed ITV1, as that happened
a few months ago, but without a fanfare, all the individual remaining regions
such as Granada and Carlton have disappeared and merged into one faceless
corporation, ITV1.
Before programmes you'll notice crass new idents featuring such luminaries
as Geri Halliwell, Davina and Katie Derham, but no room for John Leslie or
Michael Barrymore, unsurprisingly(!)
Living in Manchester, Granada has become ITV1 North West, yet its
regional news programme, Granada Reports still remains.
Apparently ITV1 have spent £700,000 on 100 idents such as the ones
described above. Perhaps they should realise that it's not rebranding the
channel needs, but some decent bloody programmes, if they want to win viewers
back and increase their advertising revenue. Idiots.
Another comp, this time for the 20th anniversary edition of the classic
80s computer-generated flick, Tron, courtesy of Consol PR for Buena
Vista Home Entertainment. There are 5 copies available of each on DVD.
These competitions will run until Friday November 29th 2002.
Twenty years ago he caused everyone to cry at the cinema because of his
plight, but were the updated CGI effects necessary, and how else does the
film differ?
No, you're not seeing double but given the fact that the film is out both
here and in the US, and that the Americans got one particular extra that
we didn't (yet), it's worthy of a head-to-head.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Traveta phones home to tell
you all about it.
It would take up too much space if I was to detail each one individual here
as I usually have done, so will just list them. This month you can have the

The entire series gets a re-run on BBC Choice next Saturday at 9pm.
She's received nothing but praise from many critics, but to these ears she
released the most annoying record of the year in "Dy-na-mi-tee".
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Liam Carey lets you know whether
the album has any substance to it.
Last night at 7pm, actor Richard Harris died aged 72 at University
College Hospital in London after losing his fight against cancer. He had been
undergoing chemotherapy for Hodgkin's disease since falling ill two months
ago.
Recently, he had become well-known for his role as Professor Albus Dumbledore
in the first two Harry Potter films, and had expected to be discharged to
start work on the third film, The Prisoner of Azkaban, next March.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen returns with his
regular movie news section which looks at future releases and features US and UK
top 10 cinema listings, websites and trailers.

The new films released this week include: K19: The Widowmaker, High Crimes, Halloween Resurrection
and reviews of xXx, Red Dragon and Road to Perdition

DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Ash returns with another
Teresa Scott video review, both videos of which are not for the faint-hearted
and if you've been left wanting by the BBC drama production which finished
last night, then get straight to the action with this double-bill.
They've been around for over a decade, but they're still the unsung heroes
of UK pop and never get the recognition they deserve.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Liam Carey hopes their new
album, Finisterre, restores the balance.

The new entries for the rest of the chart is as follows:
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Liam Carey takes a listen to
the latest CD by David Bowie, Heathen, to hear if it's his best
work in 20 years, or have the critics gone overboard?
On the Frank Skinner Show last night, the Pulp Fiction star was asked if he
ever watched his own work at home.
He went one better, stating that with his TiVo, he enjoys putting his
name into the unit to see which programmes and films feature him over the
coming month... and then tells it to record them all!
If you're a famous celebrity, you can do this too!
Aqualung came to the fore recently with a single that echoed the
sentiments of Radiohead, but not half as much as Martin Grech's Open Heart
Zoo had.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Liam Carey spins the disc
to see if this band are just a one-hit wonder.
Mike Leigh: Worth all or nothing at the cinema...?
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Paul Greenwood returns with another
latest slice-of-life drama, but from Mike Leigh. Again starring
Tim Spall, this new film has received plaudits and huge criticism,
but what to make of it all?
He's been doing well in Europe lately, but in perhaps an attempt to get back
into the limelight in his own country,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Liam Carey
listens to the man to find out whether he's still got star power.

So we know "Jason Goes To Hell" wasn't his last outing, as along came this
space-bound adventure 9 years later, and set far into the future, but there'll
still be at least one more soon as he goes up against Freddy Krueger.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Traveta checks out the current
"Jason".
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Paul Greenwood returns with
another Region 1 DVD, this one being Clint Eastwood's ten-year-old classic,
uncompromising western.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Traveta goes all out for gore
with both the R and Unrated versions of this slasher flick on DVD, but was
it really the 'final Friday'? Clearly not.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Paul Greenwood takes a look at

The two recent Mummy films brought in a lot of revenue, despite not

You'd expect big things when a trailer promises quite a decent action flick
with Bruce Willis and rising star Colin Farrell, so why does this feel twice

Donnie Darko: Cool cast, but how's the film, on R1 DVD...?
Some big names in the form of Drew Barrymore, Patrick Swayze, Mary McDonnell

The impossible has happened. I'm starting to get into this series whereas I
didn't think a great deal of what had gone before. Perhaps it's the lack of
inappropriate canned laughter.

A German band with a blend of different, experimental musical styles? No,
it's not Rammstein, but DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Liam Carey
finds this sixth album should bring The Notwist more widespread acclaim.

When a drug deal goes wrong, Samuel L Jackson has but a short time to find a

I was quite a fan of his early Aztec Camera output, as well as some of the

No-one can stop him now, not because we're all made of stars but because

Once upon a long ago he was 'sleeping with the past'. To me, he now seems to
