Groove down with the Legends of Motown & Soul Weekender: Live in Prestatyn...
The day before
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
went to see The Raconteurs in Manchester, he ventured to Prestatyn to see
class acts such as backing singers The Andantes, plus the seven-piece Midnight
Hour Soul Band and The Countours, all of whom performed over an entire
weekend.
I never read the comics and the first film didn't do it for me, but the
second film completely turned things around but with one main character dead
by the end of the second film, who will be up for the chop this time? And,
anyway, there's always scores more mutants to take their place, surely?
Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry are joined by
Kelsey Grammar, Ellen Page and even Vinnie Jones for this latest outing, but
will it be their last?
What next for Jack White? The Raconteurs Live in Manchester...
The White Stripes are no more and, according to
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts,
Jack White is the new guitar god. I think, therefore, that this review of
a recent gig with the man at the Manchester Apollo is going to go in his
favour.
Torchwood complaints on the DVDfever YouTube channel...
Yesterday on Points of View, complaints about this new series (apart from it being crap) ranged
from the fact it wasn't advertised as being on a non-digital channel to the
huuuuuuuuuuuuge logo covering Captain Jack's head at one point. See what all
the fuss was about by clicking on the YouTube logo on the right.
Also added recently are a couple of trailers for last night's Royle Family
special, several trailers for the recent second series of Extras, Matthew
Wright throwing a strop when George Foreman failed to turn up on his show
and the time on Working Lunch when Adam Shaw put on a Cyberman toy helmet...

They broke out into the public's consciousness with the haunting Sadness

16 years on?

The new films out include: A Good Year, All The Kings Men, Step Up and

There's something irresistible when the strains of Cum On Feel The Noize
starts to play, so will
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
also fall for the charms of Slade's back catalogue released over four CDs?
Back in the '60s,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
tells us that this 66-year-old was the pioneer of soul music, so can he still
deliver the goods? He must do since he's attracted the likes of Dolly Parton
and Emmylou Harris to do duets on this album.
The release dates for singles go up until mid-December
with albums also until March 2007.
Clive Owen looks to a bleak future in Children of Men at the cinema...
In 2027, it's going to be a problem for the population of the world as
no children have been born for 18 years. What will become of mankind? Find
out as
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen
reviews this new movie starring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Michael Caine.
Sean Lennon on CD. Will he follow in his father's footsteps...?
Living up to the legacy of John Lennon is a major task, but as his son Sean
releases his latest album, Friendly Fire, will the 10 tracks stand
up against any classic from his father? The man to ask is
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts.
Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who spin-off, Torchwood, really was
a load of old twaddle and just perceived to be the Angel/Buffy rip-off RTD
always wanted to make with pointless post-watershed profanities and
unnecessary sex scenes between all genders as well as aliens.

I never got round to seeing the film, but such knowledge isn't required
here as it changes the ending and sees Tony Montana escaping from his mansion
as the cops seize control of it, taking you out into Little Havana which is
just the start of your rise back to the top in a game that apes the style
of Grand Theft Auto, but how successful is it?
Bring on The Very Best Of Echo & The Bunnymen on CD...
The Cutter, Killing Moon, Nothing Lasts Forever, Seven Seas, Bring On
The Dancing Horses..., just five of the 20 classic tracks on this CD/DVD
combo which not only goes back to their best-remembered years but also takes
in more recent tracks since the CD was first released, courtesy of
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts.
Everyone seems to be on YouTube these days, so we've launched our own channel
which so far includes the piece from Channel 4 when I was on Right To Reply
in April 2001, as well as the time this website was featured on BBC News 24's
Click Online in April 2004, along with a sprinkling of mentions on
BBC1's Points of View.
Also included are a few clips of interesting TV show trailers plus amusing
things from TV such as from last Friday's The Wright Stuff when
Matthew Wright threw his dummy out the pram because guest George Foreman
cancelled at the last minute, as well as interviews from last Friday's
Breakfast on BBC1 about Torchwood with John Barrowman and
Russell T Davies.

'Free' legend Paul Rodgers live from Manchester...
On Sunday night, the former Free and Bad Country frontman Paul Rodgers performed
live at the Lowry in Salford Quays, Manchester, and
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
was there to witness a magnificent set and got to meet the man himself.
Check out the gig review now.
Snooker player Paul Hunter loses his battle with cancer...
Last night, snooker player Paul Hunter lost his battle with cancer after first
having been diagnosed with dozens of neuro endocrine tumours on the lining
of his stomach in March 2005.
I'm a big fan of snooker and I was really sorry to hear about this as I thought
he was in remission and 27 is no age to die, particularly given that his
daughter was only born on Boxing Day last year. He always came across as a
top bloke on TV and put on a brave face at both World Snooker Championships
in 2005 and 2006.
I know there's a few snooker tournaments to come between now and WSC 2007
but I bet there'll be tributes aplenty at the latter.
If you click on the picture of Paul Hunter, right, it'll take you to the
BBC's website with tributes from many of the key snooker players over the
years including Willie Thorne who said "Deep down I think we all thought
he was going to beat the disease" and John Parrott who said Hunter was
referred to as "The Beckham of the baize".
Action-blasting aplenty in F.E.A.R. on PC DVD-ROM...
This one came out towards the end of last year, but with an expansion pack
in the offing we take a look at this first-person shooter we didn't get chance
to check out at the time and see whether it has something new to offer or
just follows the trend of all the rest.
Like
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
one of my favourite bands from the '80s was Level 42, and many a mid-'80s
evening would be spent playing on my ZX Spectrum while listening to World
Machine or Running in the Family and they've been absent for a
long time, but will this new release be full of classics like Hot Water,
Leaving Me Now and Something About You or mediocre fluff like
Tracie?
A collection of his solo videos and a documentary about the great man himself
who sadly died at the age of 45 in 1991.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
talks us through his career.
Stuck for something to do this weekend? The list of the films showing at

The new films out include: The Departed, Accepted, The Devil Wears Prada, Click, Hoodwinked, World Trade Center and
Little Miss Sunshine.
One of the few reality TV stars ever to actually make a career out of being
a recording artist, does his latest release, courtesy of
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
cut the mustard or is he just treading water? Either way, he's attracted
the talents of Joss Stone and Mica Paris to perform with him.

Can Bob Dylan keep up with 'Modern Times' on CD...?
It's his 33rd studio album in 41 years, and over that time he has certainly
produced the goods, but also a few duffers along the way, so how does this
latest ten-track opus fare?
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
lends an ear and finds out.
Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney have all taken on
the role as the caped crusader, but when Christian Bale put on the outfit
in this movie from Christopher Nolan it received critical acclaim the likes
of which hadn't been afforded to many of the previous outings as he seeks
to retell the man's story.
This blockbuster also co-stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Rutger Hauer,
Liam Neeson and Gary Oldman.
Yes, this debut album, brought to you by
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
comes from a band known as 'camera.', with a small 'c' and a full stop at the
end, but do this quartet from Wrexham have what it takes to launch them into
the major league?
