RockStar 08 competition:

In search of an unsigned band to become the next big thing

ANOTHER CHANCE TO ENTER ROCKSTAR 08 TO WIN A SET AT GLASTONBURY

ORGANISERS OF THE FIRST ANNUAL ROCKSTAR COMPETITION SUPPORTED BY GLASTONBURY’S MICHAEL EAVIS, MUSICIAN PETER GABRIEL’S REAL WORLD STUDIOS AND NUMBER ONE SELLING BAND, SCOUTING FOR GIRLS OFFER TALENT AN EXTRA THREE WEEKS TO ENTER

The final submission deadline to enter the UK’s biggest ever search for the greatest unknown talent, RockStar 08 was looming, with the closing date at the end of May drawing ever closer, but organisers have extended the entry deadline by three weeks to 19th June 2008.

Budding music stars and bands hoping for their big break need to visit the official website, Rockstarbands.co.uk, download and complete the entry form and return it to the competition return address before June 19th 2008 to ensure their entry is received and ready to be judged.

Organisers have extended the deadline due to a high demand for entries and to allow for even more unsigned bands and artists to enter the competition after upping the prize offer to include a chance to win a two week recording session in Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios to record a debut album.

Event organiser Kelly Sumner said “We have received an overwhelming amount of entries so far and we are extending the deadline after the exciting new offer of a two week recording session in The Real World Studios. There are so many unsigned bands and artists out there wanting to get their big break and there are few greater breaks than the prizes up for grabs for the winner of Rockstar 08!”

The competition will be intense, with a live set at Glastonbury 2009, recording sessions in Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, and a headline slot at the famous Pilton Party at the end of August alongside Scouting For Girls up for grabs, and the bands be given the opportunity to play live at some of the UK.

RockStar 08 open to everyone, young old, groups or soloists, with the only stipulation being that any entrant must be unsigned and ready to lay everything on the line in the pursuit for ultimate victory.

The competition will kick off after 24 bands have been selected from the entries received by an experienced panel of judges to take part in the live heats (1st & 2nd and 22nd & 23rd August 2008) at Pilton Working Men’s Club. From these live heats finalists will go through to try and impress the judges at live final on 5th September 2008.

The live final will take place at the famous Pilton Party in front of 1500 regular party goers where one act will crowned RockStar 08 and play alongside Scouting for Girls.

Entries must be in before the new closing date of 19th June 2008.

To enter bands and artists must download and follow the entry form, available at the site above and send a clear recording, of no less than 2 tracks, of themselves/their band playing to RockStar 08, PO Box 4249, Glastonbury, Somerset, BA6 8UU.
