Launched in the United States early in 2000,
Explorer is the latest in high tech motion furniture from La-Z-Boy recliners,
the world's largest manufacturer of upholstered reclining furniture.
As well as the famous La-Z-Boy mechanism, a system that allows 3 position
leg rest options and full reclining action within 5" of the wall, the explorer
has in built web surfing capability.
The left arm of this sumptuous recliner lifts to reveal the flip out table
containing the wireless keyboard, the table rotates through 360 degrees giving
easy access to the keyboard in multi positions it also allows the user to exit
the chair with out putting away the table top. The swivel top can also be
used a platform for Lap top users or Playstation Gamers? The right hand arm
also lifts to give storage space for cassettes, diskettes etc.
The principle behind it's primary use - Internet Surfing - is simple, using
wireless technology (keyboard control) instructions to the *set top box are
relayed, the set top box is connected to your existing TV - most TVs are
compatible - via a scart lead, a telephone cable - supplied - is connected
direct to your phone line.
* Set top boxes with key board are currently in process of agreement to
supply with a major electronics company. However the chosen system will be in
place by March 2001.
Once connection is established to your TV and telephone line, you will be
asked a few simple questions via the system to enable you to "Log on" with the
Net Service provider and away you go.
There is no log on fee; telephone charges are at local rate. You do not need a PC.
There are no contracts to sign.
Alternatively should you not want the set box set up, or your current TV does
not have scart connection? you could opt for the Internet TV system from
Bush. Bush Internet TV is a stand-alone system with it's own *14" monitor
and Mini keyboard which together will do exactly the same as the set top
system. (Available with the Explorer on request).
*The TV has all terrestrial channels pre-programmed.
The Explorer is available for use with other systems you may have already
installed or are planning to subscribe to, for instance Sky, Open Digital,
ONdigital although strictly speaking these are not Internet surfing options
as yet.
Supply of the recliner will take place Late March early April, the system
will be available from High Street retailers of La-Z-Boy products or
La-Z-Boy Galleries.
