  • Evil Twin - where to start with the plot? It has rather a complex one, or one that at least seems that way given the way it's been described in the press release I read, but I'll try to simplify it.

You play Cyprien, a small boy whose friends are throwing him a birthday party. For some reason you're full of anger so lock yourself in your bedroom and suddenly find yourself transported into an eerie, nightmarish world which takes elements of his real life - such as his friends - and twists things such that the baddies he has to avoid or kill look like them. Friends from his orphanage also appear as horrible monsters and Cyprien's task is to sort the world out once and for all.

game pic When playing the game, though, before you can say "David Banner", Cyprien, too, can be transformed on occasion into his ultra-powerful double, Super Cyprien. He kicks bottom even more.

To simplify things further, this game plays like a cross between Ico and Final Fantasy VII, in that it captures an element of the former's free-roaming spirit, but the graphics look rather dated by comparison and your impish character reminds me of Cloud Strife from the latter.

game pic For the music, the game plays a soft, subtle bassy piece of classical piano music, which does work quite well for the game, but is rather repetitive. Sound FX are nothing to write home about though.

It's a bit of fun to leap about from platform to platform and shoot your catapult at enemies, such as one guy who appears to be split in half, but it soon becomes tiresome and if you have a PS2, you'd be better off getting Ico instead.
